GSX Chapters are local communities that operate under the GirlScript Foundation umbrella. Your chapter creates a physical or hybrid space where builders can learn, collaborate, and contribute to open source projects in your city or on your campus.
A chapter is measured by sustained activity and genuine community growth — not by the number of events hosted or members enrolled. Quality of engagement is the standard.
Regular Events
Host at least one event per month during the program season. Events may be workshops, code review sessions, study groups, speaker talks, or open source contribution sprints. Document each event with attendance numbers and a brief recap.
Active Recruitment
Actively recruit members from your institution or city, with particular attention to underrepresented groups in open source. Growth should be organic and community-driven.
Connect Members to GSSoC
Encourage chapter members to apply to GSSoC. Assist them in finding appropriate projects, understanding the application process, and connecting with mentors.
Monthly Reporting
Submit a monthly activity report to the GSSoC team. Chapters that do not submit reports for two consecutive months may be placed on inactive status.
