Contribution Period is Now Live
The GSSoC 2026 contribution period officially began on May 15, 2026. Accepted contributors can now submit PRs to any accepted project repo. Mentors are reviewing and labelling PRs. Project admins should ensure their repos have beginner-friendly issues open and properly labelled with gssoc:approved on merged PRs. Contributions count through August 14, 2026.

Acceptances Rolled Out to All Participants
The GSSoC 2026 team reviewed all applications and sent acceptance emails in batches through April. All accepted participants received a confirmation email with program details, scoring breakdown, Discord onboarding steps, and next actions. If you applied and did not receive an email, check your spam folder or open a support ticket.

Cloudinary Bounty — Currently Offline
The Cloudinary C2C Certification bounty task is temporarily offline. The 4 available social bounty tasks — Twitter/X (50 pts), Instagram (50 pts), Substack (100 pts), and LinkedIn (150 pts) — remain live and collectively earn 350 bonus points. Any update on the Cloudinary task will be announced via Discord, the newsletter, and this page.

Smartly Labs Powers the Agents for India Track

Applications for GSSoC 2026 officially opened to the public. All roles were available: Contributor / Mentee, Mentor, Project Admin, Team Volunteer, Ambassador, and GSX Chapter Lead. The program is completely free — no registration fee, no payment required at any stage, open to everyone worldwide.

GSSoC 2026 Officially Announced
GirlScript Foundation announced the 8th edition of GirlScript Summer of Code. GSSoC 2026 introduces two parallel tracks: the Open Source Track for traditional GitHub contributions, and the brand-new Agents for India Track for building real-world AI agents. Both tracks are free, open to all, and run simultaneously from May 15 through August 14, 2026.
